Ushahidi's recent open board call conducted in May 2023 generated an overwhelming response from a diverse range of candidates. This enthusiastic engagement reflects Ushahidi's global reach and its mission's resonance across borders. After an exhaustive selection process led by Ushahidi's Leadership and Board, three individuals emerged as the perfect fit to steer the organization's mission toward new horizons.
The following distinguished individuals will begin their two-year terms in September 2023:
Mark Surman is the President of the Mozilla Foundation, a nonprofit that champions internet health and privacy. With a 20-year background, he drives the internet health movement, collaborating globally to ensure an open and accessible internet. He has been instrumental in initiatives like telecentre.org and offers insights through media outlets and keynotes. Mark holds a BA in the History of Community Media.
Priscilla is the Chief Technology Officer at Greenpeace International. Her expertise lies in Digital Transformation strategy, responsibly utilizing technology to amplify impact, especially in response to the climate crisis. Her 20 years of experience include work with UNICEF, World Food Programme, and ActionAid International. Priscilla's TED talk advocates for a free and fair internet, reflecting her impactful voice in the digital space.
Ginger Zielinskie is the Chief Growth Officer at The Federation of American Scientists. Her focus lies in integrating science, technology, and innovation into public discourse for a balanced society. She previously led impactful efforts at data.org and Benefits Data Trust, positively transforming the lives of over 800,000 people. Ginger's leadership spans over two decades, characterized by partnerships driving systemic change. She holds a BA and an MBA in Social Policy and Management.
