This has been a month of "first times" for me. First time in the US, first time traveling on BA and AA and most of all, first time to attend a strategy meeting. Yes, I was at the Ushahidi Annual Strategy meeting in Miami, Florida. Apart from getting to the house(Villa Valentino) a day earlier and getting a bit stranded, the meeting was a huge success for me. First thing, I met all the team members who I only knew virtually before. It was the best time ever getting to know each member of the team, felt more at home.
The other great thing was what the meeting was all about. Before the meet up, I was clueless on so many issues concerning the company, but after the two days of rigorous meetings, i'm a changed person. Have lots of information and I feel part of the team. I was more of a student at the meeting but I enjoyed it all. Apart from the meeting, there was a devs bug fixing day at David's. "By the way", that was super duper great. Sitting with devs, hacking while enjoying donuts from 'Dunkin Donuts' and coke from the 'World of coke', couldn't ask for more. As I wind up my trip to the US, I go back to Kenya a totally different person thanks to the greatest team ever, 'The Ushahidi team'.
