As of today, Ushahidi has partnered with TechSoup to help us donate and deliver our hosted paid plans to eligible US non-profits and libraries.
When we launched our latest hosted platform in September 2015, our team ensured individuals and grassroots organizations that didn't necessarily have the budget for the upgraded paid plans always had a path to access them. We launched with a special social impact plan, and have been reviewing and discussing impact with applicants since. We've received over 150 applications for our social impact plan, and kept an average turn around time of 7 days over the past 10 months. However, as our user base continued to grow, we realized that we needed a more efficient and robust process that would continue to offer applicants a quick turnaround and seamless product delivery.
We have thus become a donor in TechSoup's product catalog, alongside companies like Tableau, Adobe, and Amazon Web Services. TechSoup connects impact driven organizations with the technology they need to improve lives, and will be handling applications from US nonprofits and libraries within their system. If you don't think you qualify for an upgraded deployment through TechSoup, fear not! We still have a social impact plan designed for low budget, impact driven grassroots or informal groups, individual activists, and international organizations. Learn more and apply here.
